I’m suuuuuuuuuuuuper excited!!!!!!!!!!

This has been a tough week, I’ve had a stupid injury in my fingers which prevented me to train :_( but I made the most of this time watching videos and taking notes! Lots of pages and pages full of stuff!!! I hope this will help me a bit at least… I haven’t been feeling that well lately, winter is awful for me (last year I had health problems during this time of the year too ;_;) but now I feel a bit better and I’m ready for my trip!!

I can’t waaaaaaaait for the WWWWWWWWGGGGGGGCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!

At first I had to face my lovely teammate WDM Cuongster in the solo tournament, I was excited about that (it would have been very funny to make him feel bad when I lost =( hahaha), but then the organization announced there had been some mistakes when doing the pools and they had to redo them. And now I’m in… Fuudo‘s pool! Yes, FUUDO! I will face him if I win my first match. Saying I’m scared won’t be enough. Anyway, WDM Evans and Starnab gave me some useful advice and I feel much better now! I hope I can play against them too once I’m in France, it will be a great warm-up! Fei has always been very troubling for me, and this time it will be FUUDO’S!!! But I wanna do my best on that match! I don’t care if I lose (I don’t care if I lose all my matches in fact), as long as I feel I did my best. I will try as hard as I can and I will keep on learning!

HellTPM is coming too!!!!!! I’m so happy! He, Sharin and I will be teammates for the 3vs3 tournament! Hell was a Dictator player but when AE was released he switched to Cody, WGC will be his first tournament with this char, I hope he does great!! I’ve played against him A-LOT and he, along with Alioune, are the only ones who make me feel that powerless when playing. Being his and Sharin‘s teammate is such an honor for me!!! I’ll try to be useful for them!

I will also take part on the World Team Cup 5vs5 tournament!! GO SPAIN! I hope I can be useful for my team! We will have to face Switzerland on the first round, we will try our best!

Can’t wait to meet all my WDM teammates!! Can’t wait to meet everybody!! Can’t wait to play against some of the best players in the world!!

When I’m back I’ll let you know how my trip was!! I’ll try to get some footage recorded. I hope you all follow the WGC stream (there will be two stream channels, you have the schedule for each one here), there will be a very high level for sure!!

My exams went amazing! I’m a bit mentally tired, but I enjoyed learning all those cool things. I enjoy studying (as weird as it sounds) and I love what I study, which is the most important fact. I feel blissful!

But nooooow…. I wanna plaaaaaaay! These last two months I’ve only played a couple of days (Cuongster was in Barcelona for New Year’s! It was so great having him here =D we met some days with the whole Arcadia bunch to play and train and it was really fun!). Now it’s time to train very hard for the WORLD GAME CUP! Yes… WORLD GAME CUP IS COMING! … did you hear me? wait, I’ll repeat:

WOOOORLD GAAAAME CUUUUPPP IS COOOOMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!

Are you ready????… I’m not!!!! (Fast speech mode ON) omg I’m so nervous and scared!!! It will be my first international experience!!! There will be lots of international top players!!! I will meet a lot of people!!!

I’m so EXCITEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Fast speech mode OFF :p). I will train every day, I will continue my path and I will try to learn ^^. The first thing I did for starting my training was getting a small notebook for writting things down. Whenever I watch a video, I read some info or I find anything useful, I write it there, and it’s being really fun, I’m enjoying it very much!!! Everytime I see any player saying he is discouraged with the game I feel so sorry, although I guess everybody goes through a slump some time. Once you stop enjoying this there’s no reason to continue (but 90% of the times motivation comes back =D). And now I AM SUPER HYPED!

I will try to do some cool stuff for the WGC! I will be a whole week in France and I would love to keep record (I am really really hyped about this trip, seriously -now my plane will crush ;_; xD). I’m thinking of doing like an everyday-diary, with pictures and videos, to share my experience with all of you =D but we’ll see!

Leaving WGC aside… more random stuff!

Before 2012 version was released my friends and I went to a small tourney in Barcelona. It was a event called Otakhristmas (wtf). They were holding a SSFIV:AE tournament so we participated. Aaaand… I won Sharin!! Yaaaaaaay!!

He used to say Cammy-Zangief was 4-6, now he says it’s 5-5 =D xD. At the beginning I thought it was 5-5, but he insisted on 4-6 and I ended up believing his word -poor Cammy :’( she’s low tier xDDD lololol-, now we both believe is 5-5! Happy ending story! (Then Alioune said on Shoryuken forum that Cammy wins Zangief, and it could be true… but ultra 1 comebacks and ultra 2 anti-antiairs…). Buuuuuuuuuut, yes, I won Sharin. He was tiireed… and he had no paatieence that daay… but I won him. I did. (mwahaha). What a pity there are no videos ;_;. I was a bit mentally delayed punishing jumps ^^’ sometimes I think Cammy’s shoryu won’t get to hit him, but Zangief is sooo big, and her shoryu’s angle is really useful for jump-ins.

So, whatever, I won him. =D. I was 2nd! (f*cking HellTPM ¬¬ haha) I was very happy =D.

Here you have a long set of Alioune vs WorstGiefEver. I learned a lot watching it, but I have to say that I would like to see Sharin playing against Alioune (we talked about it and he said “the thing is not if he will beat me, it’s how much” xD). I think he would do great, his Zangief is amazing. Anyway, these ones are nice matches (but playing online really sucks).

I’m in love with a song and I wanted to share it ^^ I get reaaally happy when I listen to it, so if you need motivation this may help! In fact, I absolutely love this band, they have become my favorite one!  If you liked it you can try this song, or this one, or this other one, or this other other one! =D they are super duper happily fun! (lol)

Also, I recently saw this video. It’s pretty emotive and sweet, and very motivational too (with Spanish subtitles) 

Aaaalso, I watched FOCUS, Mike Ross‘ movie, some weeks ago. It has been really nice to know about his experiencie, and there are some sweet moments which are very motivational too (I’m the queen of motivation today), so check it ^^.

I’ve been also watching The Street Fighter serie. It hasn’t enthralled me but it’s sweet, and it’s great when people give their ideas a chance and carries them out ^^. Here you have the first episode (I loved the intro, it is so sweet).

And, to end up (by now! I have plenty of posts ready! I’ll be updating pretty often these days), I want to talk about… MY LITTLE PONY! (don’t kill me oh please don’t kill me!!).

I heard of it thanks to TheFineBros‘ serie Teens React (these guys are awesome), here you have the episode about MLP:  (This serie and the original one, Kids React, are just awesome)

I was incredibly surprised: teenagers watching this? BOYS watching this? So I gave it a chance… and now I just love them! (posting on ArcadiaFighters forum has become much funnier since I have ponies! lolol). Since I was a child I never liked ponies, never. My parents had to get me off a pony when I was 5 xD and I never liked and never had one of the famous Hasbro ones. But this show is just amazing. I suggest you watch one random chapter and maybe you become a brony! (we have plenty of them now in Arcadia mwahahaha). Anyway, I will talk deeper (and more serious :p) about this subject in a special post which is taking me some hard work to get finished (it will be posted in Spanish first, but I decided I shall do an English version too). I won’t say anything else about it by now :p

<- So, here I come ^^’.

Some days ago I was telling you I was worried about my footsies. I focused on that and lately I’ve noticed a change. Reading Maj’s Footsies Handbook helped me a lot (although I haven’t read it entirely yet! I read a bit, I try to implement it on my gameplay, and so on), and playing that much against HellTPM and Sharin definitely has had a lot to do too.

So, now that I understand a bit more about ground game, I decided to focus on Cammy’s tools for taking the most advantage of any situation.

First thing that comes to mind: combos. But I am still experimenting with that hahaha I am still implementing a lot of basic stuff (it’s like… I feel that when I used pad I had “my little tricks” for doing certain inputs – tip: don’t pick Chun with pad or forget about lightning legs -, and now I have to learn new ones with the stick and get rid of the old ones, so it is still hard ^^’ but I feel I improve so I’m happy anyway!) -. If you are interested in Cammy’s combos you can have a look at this list in Shoryuken by Alioune. Also, OS and unblockables are still pending (these last days I’ve tried to do the ultra OS much more in battles, but 90% of the time I get EX shoryukens T_T), so I will try to talk about Cammy’s EX cannon strike.

I think Cammy’s most powerful tool is this one, her EX strike (along with her lovely shoryuken and her lovely HK*), but it’s important to use it wisely (it costs an EX, no invincibility and can be reversaled!! Cammy is low tier !! xD just kidding). My friends told me I am predictable with my EX strikes, so I tried to find other ways to use them. I won’t talk about follow-ups because I still don’t have enough knowledge about them, but I’ve been “experimenting” on how to use it as a pressure starter and as an amazing frame trap, so I will talk about my thoughts on the issue. If any info is missing/wrong/not clear let me know and I’ll update this! This is just basic stuff ^^’ but I hope it helps somebody.

First of all, I want to remember a tip from Maj’s Footsies Handbook:

Here’s what everyone needs to do yet nearly nobody does: Before you jump, ask yourself what you intend to land on. If your answer is, “I don’t know, I’m just trying to land a combo” then you’re jumping onto an uppercut.

When I read that it reminded me of myself, HellTPM tells me this aaaall the time. With Cammy you have to jump, she has one of the best jumps in the game, but you must do it wisely. You can’t only rely on jumps to get in, not even against characters who don’t have a shoryuken (Chun-Li doesn’t even need it =D). Sharin is also very hard on me about that, *high-pitched stupid voice I do when I imitate him* “what are you going to do when you face a good player who punishes all your jumps?”. So maybe just stop and think about the issue will help me to learn.

In my opinion it’s risky for Cammy to get in through air, but it can also be very rewarding. Due to her EX strike, it is hard for any opponent to react to one of her jumps; well, it isn’t always about reacting, lots of times you have your opponent guessing which air move you are going to use (when I jump I usually mix between normal strikes/EX strike/HP/HK/LK), and sometimes your opponent is expecting your fast (I love it) EX strike so he won’t AA it for fear of being punished before he executes the move.

I’ll try to talk about different situations and ranges where EX strike can be useful if it is used sometimes, no spam or die -or win .

Far range: If you wanna get in and you don’t feel like playing footsies, Cammy allows you to take a quick chance for testing your opponent’s reflexes and concentration. So, jump-in with EX strike! Some characters, for example Dictator, would try to punish with a st.HK when you jump from that distance, but EX strike will beat it. Against chars with shoryuken you better not try this one xD. Risky, but, if your opponent doesn’t expect it, really cool xD. Jumping with HK would also be useful sometimes (its range is amaaazing, if you know they will try to punish your HK jump-in with a shoryuken, you can do an empty jump and then punish their whiffed shoryu).

Mid range: I usually use it trying to get the opponent’s pokes when they come out. Some moves won’t allow you to do that because of their hitbox or they recovery, but specially against low moves (like Ryu’s cr.MK, he could be doing this for having Cammy out of space or for punishing her jump right when she grounds) it’s really useful and you can confirm it into a combo or even into an ultra depending on the height you did the EX strike. Against opponents with good reflexes it can be reversaled with shoryukens on reaction, or prevented with pokes like Ryu’s st.HK if they are done at the right time (Ryan Hart tried against Daigo’s Cammy but Daigo did the EX too high, Ryan should have done a shoryuken there). Your opponent trying to avoid this stuff is less likely as less likely you tend to do the EX to get in. Also, straight jumps from this distance will make your opponent guess if you are going to do an EX strike or not, so he may be scared to punish your jumps with long range normals: for example, if Daigo had tried to punish this EX jump with a st.HK or st.HP he would have been hit (right before he used cr.MP for beating that HK Cammy’s jump -if Sako had done an EX strike there he would have beaten that cr.MP).

Close range: This move has no invincibility (;_; xD), so at point blank it only beats one thing for sure: standing tech (and most character’s shorts/crouch tech). It can be beaten by teching with cr.MP, by cr.LP, etc, depending on the character you are facing; solution: do it a bit higher (still TK motion but jumping forward and delaying pressing 3K) like Alioune in this video. Some chars like Boxer can also do crouch teching with cr.HP to beat the EX strike and doing it a bit higher won’t be enough, then you can wait a bit and grab during cr.HP startup (or going backwards and then punishing on whiff, or delaying a poke -like cr.MP- for a frametrap, and even some char’s cr.HP are punishable on block -like Ryu’s).

Sometimes your opponents will even jump backwards with some normal (or even grabbing! A Vega player once did this to me and I was getting really frustrated xDDD) so don’t overdo strikes, if you jump forward with HK (or air grab) you may stop this attempt but it’s risky, shoryuken (or dash shoryuken depending on the opponent) can be useful too if you see the jump.

And of course EX strike can be blocked, reversaled or avoided with backdash. If you think your opponent is going to do a backdash on his wake up, jump forward and then do the EX strike motion, it will hit him almost for sure during his backdash (if you hit them airborne so you can’t get a full combo you can dash forward and you have a nice mix up). Jumping backwards is also a nice mix up, like Sako does in this video (you can even delay the EX strike much more, your opponent may be walking forward not expecting it).

Cammy in the corner: . It allows her to sometimes jump backwards. You can mix EX strike/HK/empty jump. If your opponent gets you are doing EX strike often, he’ll probably try a shoryuken (empty jump can be useful here depending on the distance between both characters, but it would be better if you stayed more time on ground xD). If you do empty jumps, he’ll probably try to hit you with low attacks or long range normals (then HK, and even EX strike). And also he might jump to try to beat your jump; if you react to it before executing any move (in case you already did it, it would beat his attempt most times anyway) air grab is useful too (and sometimes I also like HP and MP). Tip: don’t do this against some chars – like Cody, HK ruffian will beat any option or at least trade in Cody’s favour. Here you have Sako jumping on the corner and thus avoiding Daigo’s grab. . .

Note: focus can get strikes during their recovery frames, your opponent may try this (specially if his char has a nice focus), so you can do an empty jump and grab once you are on the floor.

So, right now this is pretty much what I have to say about this tool! Any other information is more than welcome! ^^

* It took me a long time to realize how powerful was Cammy’s st.HK xD (until HellTPM picked her to show it to me xD), so my friends had fun of it, a lot. Sharin even did… this xD:

“Cammy is defenseless on the floor =’(” xDDD

They always said to me this normal was better than Fei Long’s cr.HP… I used to get mad xD but now I think it may be possible ^^’ xDDD
